Fall Show Rising
(all work created in 2010)

I am delighted and honored to be one of the artists represented in Fall Show Rising. As a former North Beach resident who left in 1992, it feels great to return to North Beach at Ron and Rebecca request. While I have lived in many places worthy of reflection, including London, Washington DC, Tokyo and Los Angeles, my memories of living in this neighborhood live in life-soaked, warm-blooded ecstasy, and I call them forward when country life needs a jolt of ever-exhilierating urbanity---the stars are great and everything, but I do thrive on creative culture, which can sometimes be a bit out of reach when one is, to quote Chicken John, ’Äúa big fish in a thimble’Äù!

My work is inspired by my life philosophy that all things are an embodiment of art, and therefore deserve to be treated as such. I use recycled objects, materials and products whenever possible, and I welcome your feedback, commissions, and inspirations.

Transparency
mixed media/assemblage: wood, paper, acrylic, 4’Äù diameter

This piece was created on a wood dowel I found discarded in a woodshop, so the piece was inspired by the man and his tools, and the see-through vision obsessive necessity of it all!

doll eyes, metal
12’Äù x 9’Äù, 2010

I’Äôve thought a lot about trains, and the linear, yet circuitous directions they take us. This shows two women, a chain, observant flowers, and of course, a ’Äúman’Äù in the middle...hmmm., choices.

Talking back TV
mixed media/assemblage: metal,
paper, acrylic, 7.5’Äù diameter, 2010

The struggle to make one’Äôs own

bombardment of images and ideas, from music to television, to taste in women, and opinions of oneself.

The Joy of Suburbia
mixed media/assemblage: metal,
paper, acrylic, 7.5’Äù diameter, 2010

This is where I came from, the half-hearted happy drunkenness of stripmall life, yet Van Gogh is there with his bedroom, and you know Jung is lurking in there somewhere!
